Abstract:The endogenous electric field of the human body regulated the relevant physiological processes. Electrical stimulation has been shown to promote tissue repair and regeneration. Piezoelectric biomaterials, as smart materials that converted mechanical energy into electrical stimulation, have great potential for application in the field tissue regeneration. This paper reviewed the current classification of piezoelectric biomaterials and their mechanisms of action to promote tissue regeneration, then research progress of piezoelectric biomaterials in the field of tissue regeneration such as bone tissue, nerve tissue, skin tissue, muscle tissue and cardiovascular, finally summarized and analyzed the current shortcomings of piezoelectric biomaterials in practical applications and the corresponding improvement measures.
